Centennial, CO, May 23rd, 2022. Johnson Storage & Moving (“JSM”), headquartered here, announced today the formation of its new art shipping & storage business, called J-Art Services. J-Art is a natural extension of JSM’s growing business in the art gallery, museum, and auction house space throughout the West and Southwest.
J-Art offers clients one-stop-shop logistics services including packing, crating, temperature-controlled transportation, and installation. J-Art is a preferred logistics partner for Hindman Auctions, the Denver Art Museum, Ship Rock Gallery, Couse-Sharp Foundation, and other high-end curators of art and antiquities.
Recently, J-Art facilitated expedited air-ride transport of an ultra-high value glass display for the Couse-Sharp foundation located in Taos, NM. Couse-Sharp had acquired the custom 10’ display from CaseWerx in Baltimore, but shipping from Germany was delayed due to supply chain issues at the port. By the time the display was received at the port, it was three weeks late and needed to arrive in Taos, NM for a gala event less than a week later. J-Art negotiated expedited white glove freight from Baltimore to its Albuquerque facility where the piece was cross-docked and delivered the next day. J-Art’s three-man crew used a mobile forklift along with specialized dollies to move the 800 lb. piece inside the gallery. J-Art’s crew then uncrated and assembled the display, which now houses a 19th-century Native American headdress in the museum (photos below). “J-Art totally came through for us with this move, saving us substantial money and expediting delivery and install next day” said Couse-Sharp’s Executive Director, Davison Koenig. “They have come through for us with difficult moves on multiple occasions and are a trusted partner of ours.”
J-Art leverages Johnson’s United Van Lines affiliation along with Razr Logistics to arrange specialty packing, crating, shipping, and storage of high-value art and antiquities across the country. The Company recently assisted a nationally recognized museum with de-accessioning a large collection of 19th century Native American pottery, apparel, and antiquities to a remote location across the country. J-Art was able to pack, crate and ship more than 800 pieces on its climate-controlled equipment.
J-Art is the art shipping & storage arm of Johnson Storage & Moving, one of the largest asset-based logistics providers in the west, with 18 locations in 10 states.
