In 1900, the Johnson family began moving households and businesses in and around Denver, Colorado. At the time, the city was barely three decades removed from its founding as a mining camp. The population was growing fast, and families needed someone they could trust with everything they owned. The Johnsons were that someone.
In 1947, Johnson became a founding agent of United Van Lines, joining the cooperative of independent movers that would become America's #1 family mover. Johnson begins building a specialized portfolio of brands, including Johnson Commercial Solutions (office moving and FF&E), Johnson Warehousing (3PL and distribution), Johnson International Movers, and Johnson Fleet Services. Extending the family's capabilities beyond household moving.

Moving is designated an essential service during the COVID-19 pandemic. Johnson continues full operations throughout, implementing safety protocols and serving families, military personnel, and healthcare workers whose relocations could not wait.
Johnson opens new locations in Kansas City (Lee's Summit, MO), Miami (Doral, FL), and Indianapolis. Extending the portfolio into new markets and establishing Johnson as a coast-to-coast operator for the first time in company history.
